Food - Some people plan their trip to the grocery store and big discount stores on sample day, usually around lunch time, on an empty stomach, no doubt. But have you ever really watched people sample food? No I mean really watch. It can be quite hilarious as they stand there and eat not one, not two, but three of the same item, as though they didn't really get a good taste the first two times. The polite food demonstrator feels compelled (they are getting paid to do this after all) to keep giving them more. Well, at least those samples are the maned ones, but what about the samples that are just put out for people to walk up to and take samples on their own, they are usually a good sign of a "free for all" and some people feel free to take them all. This is where it can be very entertaining to just stand and watch people. They act as though there is no one else around, but them. They forget they are in public! Until of course, we remind them with a little giggle, or a disgusting sigh, that says "are you really going to eat them all?" But, the mother of all "people samplers" are the people who go up to the sample and take the spoon out of the sample, stick it in their mouth and then put it back in the sample - ewe - did you really just do that? And then we realize we said that out loud. And they look at us like, what? What did I do wrong? Now every time I see these self serve samples...I just walk on by - no thanks. I'm not into sloppy seconds.
Do you have a funny or gross sample story to share? If so, share it here.
Dish - I will be so glad when November 4Th rolls around and we have a new President! But, I think there should be some rules to this campaigning circuit next time around. Here are my suggestions:
1). If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything!
2). You can only say what you are going to do, NOT what your opponent is not going to do.
3). Stick to the issues.
4). Limit your TV ads to 3, and they have to be about YOU! (maybe if there was a limit they would make the most of them.)
5). 90% of your campaign money has to be used to feed the homeless, provide health care, fund education, find alternative fuel sources, etc.. (would they do as much fundraising if they had to "give it back" instead of use it for self promotion?)
Embellish - Find beauty in a long walk, listening to the birds chirp, meditating or yoga.
