Oops, he did it again - it's yo baby, yo baby, Your baby too!

Food - Fall weather usually brings a visit to the pumpkin patch/apple orchard. This has always been a tradition of ours and it is not just a kids event, the adults look forward to it just as much. Some apple orchards have; hay rides, petting zoos, mazes, hot air balloon rides, bonfires, a restaurant and a gift store. There is something about this trip that so many of us find fun! It helps that there is usually fresh baked bread, apple pies, apple cider, jams, and lots of pumpkins for everyone. All this talk about food, has made me hungry. Here is a recipe for pumpkin bars.

Pumpkin Bars
Bar Ingredients:
4 eggs
2 c. sugar
1 c. salad oil
1 -15 oz canned pumpkin
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp cloves, salt, nutmeg, ginger
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. baking powder

Preheat oven to 350. Mix together: eggs, sugar, salad oil and pumpkin. Sift: soda, cloves, salt, cinnamon, baking powder and ginger. Add to pumpkin mixture. Pour into a greased 12 x 18 x 1" pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes. Let cool.

Frosting Ingredients:
1 - 6oz. cream cheese @ room temp.
3/4 stick butter or margarine
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tbsp. milk
4 c. powdered sugar

Beat cream cheese, butter, vanilla and milk until soft. Add sugar until it reaches spreading consistency. Spread over cooled bars, chill, cut and serve.

Dish - Speaking of pumpkins.... Oops, he did it again - it's yo baby, yo baby, your baby too! National Enquirer reports that Jamie Lynn Spears is pregnant again! Isn't there a song about: "Once bitten, twice shy baby?" The 17 year old is now 8 weeks pregnant, a mere 3 months after giving birth in June. Jamie said: "she didn't think she could get pregnant while breast feeding." Okay, we have all heard this one before, but what about things like: birth control, protected sex, abstinence, haven't we heard about those things too? It takes 2 baby...where is the dad in all this? Hasn't he heard about birth control, whomever he maybe? I would speculate, maybe "hope" is a better word, that the father is Casey Aldridge, but the on-line article didn't say. Bottom line is, this is a sad situation for all those involved, especially the children. Let's just hope that Sarah Palin's daughter reads the National Enquirer. Note to self: if you want to avoid getting a little pumpkin of your own - or if you are going to have sex - have it be protected!
