Change is a coming

Food - There's gold in them there antique stores....I was out and about the other day, when I happened upon an antique store. I went in and looked around for any "good find" that could be found. When guess to my wondering eyes should appear? No, it wasn't a miniature sleigh and eight tinny reindeer. However, it felt like Christmas to me. It was a copy of "Mom's School Lunch Recipes, from District 281."

If you have read any of my blog, you will know I recently did a blog entry on school lunch. I had to phone my mom, a former head cook in District 281, to get a recipe for that blog. Now, I have a copy of my own! Mom, don't worry, I will still call you - cuz I love ya man!

Barbecued Hamburger (sloppy joes)

Yield:6 servings - 1/4 c. servings

Ingredients:

1 lb. ground beef

1 1/2 tsp. lemon juice

2 tsp. vinegar

1 1/2 tbsp. water

2/3 c. catsup

1 tbsp. brown sugar

1 tbsp. dehydrated onion

1 tsp. dry mustard

1 tsp. salt

1/8 tsp. pepper

Brown ground beef, add remaining ingredients and let simmer for 15-20 minutes. Spoon onto 6 buns.

Dish - The election is over and a new website has been launched for the "President Elect, Barack Obama" justly named: change.gov., since that is the whole premises of things to come. Go to the website and check out all of the key issues and his plan of action, and if you are out of a job, they are looking for applicants too!

I, myself, cannot stop comparing: JFK, Clinton and Obama. They are all Democrats (I won't get into policy issues now), speak eloquently, captivate the audience, are young, good looking men married to strong women, and have an undying love for their children.
